Independent data for the Canadian church.
Canadian Pastor exists because no one had built a clear, trustworthy, Canadian answer to a simple question: what does fair pay look like in ministry here?
Why this exists
Most compensation conversations in Canadian churches happen in the dark. Boards guess. Pastors feel awkward asking. The only data available is usually American, which does not account for Canadian salaries, Canadian cost of living, or the clergy residence deduction. The result is that good people get underpaid and good boards make decisions without the information they need.
This project collects real compensation data from Canadian church leaders, anonymously, and gives it back to everyone for free. The more people add their numbers, the clearer the picture gets for the whole church.
What we believe
Pastors should be paid fairly, and boards should have the information to do that well. Money should not be a source of quiet resentment or anxiety in ministry. Clear data makes hard conversations easier and fairer for everyone at the table.
How it stays trustworthy
The data is anonymous and aggregated. No individual salary is ever shown. We only publish a benchmark once a segment has enough submissions that no one can be identified. Email addresses are kept separate from the figures used for analysis, and the data is not sold to denominations, recruiters, or anyone else.
Who is behind it
Canadian Pastor is an independent project built by people who have worked in Canadian ministry and leadership development for years. It is not affiliated with any denomination or institution. It is built in British Columbia, for the whole Canadian church.
